The new Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool provides hygienic air humidification in winter, evaporative cooling in summer, and efficient purification all year round.
Air that is too dry or too humid can become a vector for the spread of viruses or bacteria. Humidifiers help you breathe better in dry air, but not all are hygienic. When the water used is not properly pre-treated to eliminate bacteria, they can be released into indoor spaces and become part of ambient air pollution, which can be up to 5 times greater than that of the outside air.
Developed by Dyson microbiologists and engineers, Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool emits UV-C light, eliminating 99.9% of bacteria in water on the first pass. The biostatic evaporator equipped with a silver wire helps prevent the proliferation of bacteria for a perfectly hygienic humidification.

Hygienic humidification
UV-C light damages bacteria in the water by denaturing their DNA so that they cannot multiply. This process takes place in less than a picosecond (or a billionth of a second) but requires strict irradiation with UV-C light. When designing the Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool, Dyson engineers conducted extensive research to explore the optimal exposure of bacteria to UV-C rays in order to denature them. They have thus developed an ultra-reflective PTFE tube in which UV-C light is reflected from one side of the tube to the other. When water from the reservoir is pumped through this tube and irradiated, UV-C light neutralizes up to 99.9% of bacteria in the water on the first pass.
Thus treated, the water then passes through the 3D mesh of the evaporator of the Air-mesh type. Silver threads are woven into the top and bottom faces of the Air-mesh create a unique structure, with biostatic properties, which prevents bacterial growth on the evaporator. For more than 200 years, silver has been used for its biostatic properties in surgery, obstetrics, but also for the treatment of burns and the disinfection of water. Inside the evaporator, the purified airflow is then hygienically humidified by the water vapor coming out of it, before being diffused into the room using the air amplifier.
Treat indoor air pollution
The Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool senses pollution and humidity levels in the air, and distributes purified, hygienically humidified air to every corner of your room.
For detection, lasers are the ones that detect and measure ultra-fine particles. A separate sensor measures the amount of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), such as benzene or nitrogen dioxide. A third sensor measures the relative humidity of the air as well as the temperature. The LCD screen displays the data in real-time.
For retention, a nine-meter filter of compressed and clogged borosilicate glass microfibers captures 99.95% of ultra-fine pollutants as small as 0.1 microns, including allergens, bacteria, and pollens. An activated carbon filter with a Tris [tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane] coating intended to increase the absorption efficiency of the device, removes benzene and nitrogen dioxide.
Finally, for diffusion, Dyson engineers have integrated Jet Axis Control technology into Pure devices. Two jets placed on either side of the air amplifier are independently controlled to project a refreshing airflow through an oscillation mode or, during the winter months, a diffusion mode or a new Breeze mode.
